The WSOC Records Album Recording Shows Information
The World Series of Comedy (WSOC) is North America's largest touring comedy festival. The
WSOC produces 17 events per year in cities across the country, culminating in the year-end
Finals, The Main Event in Las Vegas. Notable alumni of the festival include Josh Blue, Kabir
Singh, Beth Stelling, Kiry Shabazz, JR De Guzman, Ryan Neimiller, Ellis Rodriguez, Zoltan
Kaszas, Willie Macc, James Schraeder, Mia Jackson, and hundreds more working
comedians. In addition to many other writing and performing credits, former contestants have
been featured on The Tonight Show, Late Night, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, Ellen,
@midnight, The Pete Holmes Show, and The Late Show.
In 2022, The WSOC launched WSOC Records, a new division of the company focused on
producing high quality audio recordings to release albums featuring the great performers that
participate in the festival. An exclusive distribution deal was struck with Sirius XM to release
content through their multiple standup comedy satellite radio channels. This year, The WSOC
has added a new series of live performance events called WSOC Records Album Recording
Shows to create content and specifically record full albums for distribution on Sirius XM.
WSOC Records Album Recording Show Format:
Joe Lowers, Founder and CEO of The WSOC is a nationally touring headliner that will close
each show for the WSOC Records Album Recording shows. At each location, there is a
dedicated feature act that will open for Joe, along with a number of hand-selected guest
performers. The guest performers are all alumni of The World Series of Comedy. They have
performed at The Main Event and are members of the Top 101 of the festival’s year-long
contest. These comedians have beat out hundreds of other performers as judges by a panel
of industry experts that represent comedy clubs, talent agencies, TV production companies
and management companies. Many of the guest performers are past winners of Satellite
events (weeklong contests held by The WSOC), and are touring comedians that feature and
headline at various comedy clubs around the country.
The goal for the festival is to release two albums per event – one dedicated to the feature
performer, and one that is a compilation of performances of the guest performers, as well as
the professional comedians that tour with the festival and act as host and MC for the show.
Joe will also be recording material all season long and release an album at the end of the
tour. All of the tracks are releases on Raw Comedy, but many go on to be placed on
additional Sirius XM channels like Pure Comedy, Kevin Hart’s LOL and She’s So Funny.
